How Breast Cancer Affects All Of US

breastcancer2I feel deeply connected to a family I have never met. Her name is Stacy, she has seven beautiful children and an adoring husband. She worked hard as a nurse, supporting her large family as the primary contributor. Then she was diagonosed with Stage 3 breast cancer. The chemo and other cancer treatments have left her unable to work. Her husband has been working like crazy trying to make up the financial difference, taking care of the kids, the house and his wife. I think that’s a big part that just gets to me, is he should be able to be by his wifes side instead of working to make ends meet. However, even with all that they are in danger of loosing their home, having their power shut off and loosing their car. Cancer is not cheap, no matter what insurance you have. They have discussed selling their cars for that extra money. But then how would Stacy get to her doctors and chemo treatments? I just can’t imagine being in their situation. I’ve only been able to write in two minute intervals because I just break down in tears and need to take a moment to regroup. So if this post seems a little incohesive, I’m sorry.

I read about Stacy and her family on www.momfuse.com. I immediately donated what I could. It wasnt much, but it was what I could. The story has bothered me since first reading it. There are probably many reasons why I feel so connected to this family. Having our own financial hardships and trying to take care of one kid was overwhelming. I can not imagine taking care of seven, fighting breast cancer and going through chemo. Is it any surprise that this woman has given me a new found inspiration? Like I said, I’ve never met Stacy, but I know she’s a fighter. I know she has it in her to kick cancers butt. (( hold on, crying, need to get the tears away)) But she needs help. She needs our help.

I know moms across the country are being dealt that blow of cancer, that unfortunately this story is not all that unique. I’ve had friends moms and friends of friends diagnosed with breast cancer. Women as young as 28! My age. I think it would be a sad world if people couldnt rely on the help of others who are more fortunate. Just think what a $5 donation could do for this family? Thats the price of two gallons of gas for Stacy to get to a doctor’s appointment or chemo treatment. That’s two packages of saltine crackers for Stacy, currently the only thing she can keep down. If five people gave just ONE dollar, that would add up to $5. If five people gave $5 that would be $25! Or even if 25 people gave one dollar… well you get it. It adds up. You don’t need to donate $100 to make a difference. (Even though $100 would make an INCREDIBLE difference!) You can donate using the button below right now, visit www.momfuse.com or continue reading for more ways to help.

The hubby and I were talking about Stacy and her family, of course I was balling my eyes out, but my husband reminded me of my venture with the Humane Society through Seasons For A Cause. He said, “Isnt that the whole reason you started doing this? Was to help people?” I immediately jumped online and contacted Jessica, the founder of Momfuse to see if this was something we could do. I got an immediate email back with a YES! YES! YES!

Jessica and the Momfuse family have been working their butts off to raise awareness and give this family some help. I’m proud to say that I too, have been working my butt off for them. With all profits going directly to the family, I have created the Kitchen Sink Beef Blend (which is also excellent on Salmon and Chicken!) It combines regular and smoked paprika, toasted fennel, garlic, onion, basil, parsley, tellicherry peppercorn, Mexican oregano and much, much more. I don’t call it the Kitchen Sink for nothin!  It will be sold individually as well as in a 3 tin gift pack, this is an exclusive blend with all profits going directly to the family. Check it out HERE
